Outfit: 16/9/13

(Uniqlo shirt, MarcbyMarcJacobs shorts, Jil Sander shoes, AlexanderWang bag)

There has been a nice balance of hot and cold temperature in the past 3 days or so, and choosing an outfit hasn't been as much of a challenge. Hence, my beloved shirts are finally getting the opportunity to be worn  again, and with a pair of short, (or skirt), I am able to simultaneously keep myself warm and cool, which is quite important when you are carrying a 10kg baby around :)

It's been unbearably hot these past couple of weeks or so, and trying not to sweat is impossible. I've just realised that everything that I have will not suffice for this climate! I just want to wear a cami top and short shorts all the time, but I can't get away with such outfit without attracting attention or unwanted stares. So, I have given up on that idea, and just try to wear whatever I can that will prevent me losing so much fluids minus the unwanted attention. The above outfit pretty much sums up what I wear in general. Skort, or skirt with a T, or denim shorts, and almost always with those sandals or other. If I go somewhere cool (i.e. an airconditioned place- shopping centres), I'll cover my legs and wear a T or shirt.
I just have no motivation or patience to take outfit photos, the moment I am ready to go out I just want to leave because our house is like being in an oven!

(Thrifted skirt and tank top, StandardJournal(JP) shirt)

I haven't had the time nor the motivation to do an 'On rotation' post due the babe, but mostly because of the heat we're experiencing here. Living on the top floor (of a second story building), is no fun at all! It gets very hot during the day, and staying immobile is something I prefer to do (hence the lack of posts). So in doing this, I have shifted my attention to watching movies rather than moving about and sweating buckets.
I will try to do an 'on rotation' posts (hopefully) soon, because I do quite enjoy constructing them. It helps divert my attention onto something else other than what's really bothering me. Just wished that this heat would simmer down for a couple of days at least! (Or bigger windows in this home!)

Outfit: 10/7/13

(Zara top, comptondeconttoniers linen skirt, ABrandNewDay(JP) shoes)

It's a rare thing for me to be seen wearing a skirt, but yesterday's heat called for it! Also, this skirt is brand new, well..sort of. I bought this last just after I found out I was pregnant, but I haven't had the chance to wear it because of my expanding tummy and the inappropriate seasons. Finally the right time and climate has arrived for it to be worn. It makes me look a little roundish (still haven't lost the post-partum fat! If ever!), but was still happy that I can fit into it (with a little extra room, actually).

The heat is really rising here in Hiroshima (Japan), but it's not just the heat, it's also the humidity. I force myself to constantly drink something to avoid dehydration (esp. because I'm still BF). On top of that, we live on the top floor of a second story building so when day breaks our apartment feels like an oven! Opening what little amount of windows and doors we have just doesn't help! Thankfully though, my in-laws business office is just downstairs, so babe and I tend to spend our afternoons in there because of the air conditioner :)

Recaptulating: May~June outfits

I obviously like my blues, and whites.

Alas, this shirt is no longer wearable!! I can't believe it! I was rushing to get change to go grocery shopping with the babe, when I noticed the tear whilst putting on the ergo (baby carry) around my waist. This is only second time I wore this top, both times worn while carrying the baby around, and I'm quite disappointed I teared it. I should of seen it coming when the fabric is so delicate, and the stitching so fine, plus wearing it with a baby around. I'm going to keep it though to see if it can be mended. It only cost me 500yen (thrifted), so I'll check the prices at the alteration/tailor shops around here.

(Thrifted top, Uniqlo pants, LautreChose shoes)

I wanted to make an 'On rotation' post, but I haven't had time/energy because the little babe hasn't been napping /sleeping well, yet again (going through some developmental phase-poor angel). I hoped to one today, but by the time I had the chance the lighting wasn't so good due to the rain and the time of day.

The weather suddenly turned from cool and rainy to hot and humid. So, I donned on my shorts, which I have been waiting to wear. I bought them last year while I was still pregnant, and luckily they fit!!

Hot, hot, hot (the climate). That's all I have to say.

Outfit: 15/6/13

It was so hot on Sunday (Fathers Day), I was so grateful for the top. It's quick dry,yet a very light cool material.

Outfit: 05/02/2013

(Witchery shirt, MargaretHowell shortsleeveT, Thrifted culottes, and L'autreChose shoes)

Slight change of plan with my previous outfit plan. The T from Acne isn't a very flattering colour, also it's very hot today and I have to ride my bike to work so I opted for a short sleeve shirt, and a denim shirt on top for sun protection. I had the culottes fixed around the seam, but time will determine how long the other seams will hold up.

As I was trying to get some Zs (but failed), I was thinking of the high school students that I teach English (ESL) to. Last lesson I found out a little about their dreams and aspirations, and one student in particular stated that she wanted to be a cultural, or maybe a cultured person because she enjoys meeting people from different culture. This reminiscing subsequently led to me reflecting about my own personal life and experiences. I wasn't born and bred in Australia, I was born in the Philippines, bred in Australia and now living in Japan. By some accident or destiny I am an example of a person who is living life multiculturally. For a long time I never embraced my Filipino side, because I wanted to fit in, be part of the majority. I didn't want to be seen as different, or act different, but in my ignorance it took me a long time to realise that this is inevitable. People did/will right away see me as different because of my physical appearance and characteristics. I didn't realise until I went to university that it was ok to be me, and to have those kinds of feelings. These past conflicting feelings were mainly the result to covert pressure by people close to me (and those around me),to assimilate in order to be socially accepted by vast majority, or society in general.
Now, that I have embraced my "differentness", I feel liberated and more accepting/respectful of people from diverse backgrounds. I also feel more confident, you either like me for who/what I am,  without expectations no assumptions/presumptuousness nor stereotyping, get to know me first or just move on and save yours and my time.

Outfit: 12/5/13

(Shirt/Jeans: Uniqlo, Shoes: Givenchy, Leather belt, TagHuer watch)

This outfit was inspired by les-anti modernes. It doesn't look as good, but I think very appropriate for a mother of two (moi). Yesterday was Mothers Day, nothing special happened except for my son writing me a letter with a lovely drawing of a flower- it was better than nothing, and it sufficed my expectation.

I have been getting good sleep in the past couple of nights, but I have had some bad (recurring) dreams too. Last night's dream was particularly disturbing because it was very emotional, and felt very real. Although, if such dream did occur in real life I don't think/believe that it would have the same emotional impact because I often find myself so exasperated and frustrated with that person to the point of wishing that it would actually happen, and if it did I wouldn't care less....

I finally got to wear my yellow top. I bough this shirt last year and I haven't had a chance to wear it for several reasons. One, when I purchased it I didn't think the colour would be so bright, so I was lost for ideas with what to wear it with. Two, I was pregnant, which despite it's looseness was still not loose enough for my baby bumped then. And three, the unsuitable climate/season. So yesterday I accidentally paired this two together and was surprised that (I believe) it complimented my polka dot pants.

Outfit: 1/5/13. Am I really...???

My sister in-law is one of the nicest person I know. It was her birthday today, which I almost forgot! What's ironic is that we share the same birth month. So I was kinda shock that it was her birthday cause it just reminded me how fast the time has flown, and how it's going to be my turn next, which I completely forgot. I think once you turn 30 it's kinda easy to lose track of your age, and even to remember that ones birthday is near. Or, is it just me?!! Since turning 30 I have had to be reminded, or someone mentions that it's that time of the year again. I'm not sure if my forgetfulness is/was due to events of my life (studying, and being pregnant), or current events (taking care of a baby/being a full time mum), or I just don't want to be reminded that I am ageing yet again (cause it sure doesn't feel like it in here!), OR I just don't like the idea of getting older. I think maybe all of the above. I wouldn't believe that I am in my 30's, but unfortunately aches, pains, and the slowing down of metabolism is sort of reminding me that I am, and that I am no longer that waif-thin 20 something year old girl :( .
Seriously, I'm finding it difficult to fathom that I am ageing, I'm kinda scared!!! But, I will put on a brave face, soldier on because my children have made my life and my future worth living.

Not to creative, but atleast I wasn't wearing 'the jeans'. I really like the colour combination but hate the fact that I still have my postpartum body! Oh well, I guess I should be thankful that I can still fit into these pants, even though I look chunky.

Work is picking up for me again. I got my old job back teaching at a high school (only once a week, though), and I have a few students who come to me for lessons. Hence the anxiety attacks, and unsettling feeling I'm experiencing during the day. But, what I'm mostly concerned about is being away from my baby. I can't bare the thought of being apart from her for too long, and I also have trust issues when it comes to someone else taking care of her (even my husband :)). Will she get enough sleep? Will she be fed properly? Will they understand her needs when she cries? etc... In addition, I want to spend as much time with her as possible because she won't be a baby for too long, and she's my last one, my last chance of experiencing taking care of a cute baby!! On the positive side, it's not full time work so it could be worst...

On another note- my outfits. The jeans! I just love them so much. They are so comfortable, easy to wear with anything, and easy to put on (esp. when you're always in a hurry). I bought them on sale for 1000yen ($10) from Uniqlo. I love them so much that I bought two pairs :P
I really do want to be more creative with my outfits, but my time is so constraint, and planning what to wear takes more time than I realised. Hopefully, when the climate turns I'll be able to post a variety of outfit photos. HOPEFULLY.

I thought it would have been nice to go for a stroll in a Japanese/botanical garden, however when we did finally make it to the garden the rain came 30 minutes after our arrival!! I so wanted my little bub to enjoy looking at some flowers, and for my little boy to breath in some fresh air. Despite the rain, with the storm, we did manage to have a little walk before it poured down, and after much protest from my son about how boring it would be in the garden, he didn't want to leave when the rain came because he was having too much fun feeding the (gross looking) carp. In the end, after navigating a whiny/fidgety boy in the rain with an umbrella and pushing a pram through precarious rocky footpaths and bridges, we managed to leave in better spirits (than when we arrived-I was whiny cause we arrived too late). I had an enjoyable alone time with my son, and we didn't get too wet from the storm (particularly the bub). So we're planning another visit again, who knows when though, last time I went was when I first came to Japan some 7-8 years ago (this might be because I live so close by)!!
